Marching Band 2020 Season Update
To Our Clearview Band Community:

The mission of our marching band and colorguard program is the musical, emotional, and intellectual development of instrumental music students in the Clearview Regional High School through the marching arts medium. The Fall 2020 calendar and on-the-field production may look and sound different than in past years, but our staff is committed to supporting all students both on and off the field. We are excited about the advancement of our students’ education while exploring new avenues of artistic expression. We will continue to perform at football games and various other artistic events throughout the fall, we will continue to support the athletics program at Clearview through our music, and we will continue to share music throughout the greater Mullica Hill community. Finally and most crucially in our current moment, myself and the entire staff is committed to supporting students emotionally and socially as we all adjust to what is certain to be a unique and challenging school year, both in the classroom and on the band field.
With that said, given the current circumstances and recent cancellations of numerous local and national marching arts events, the Clearview Regional High School Marching Band is making the difficult decision to modify the fall 2020 Schedule, removing competitions from the calendar while also limiting rehearsals and performances.
To start, all rehearsals and meeting prior to July 31st are digital, taking place on GoogleHangout. Codes for these meetings will be posted on the GoogleClassroom and Remind account on the day of the meeting. August rehearsals and meetings are planned to be in person in small groupings, taking into account NJSIAA and Clearview Regional High School District requirements. All in-person meetings through August 28th are optional, with students and staff members subject to all school district COVID-19 regulations. Exact information and requirements as set forth by the Clearview Regional School District (including but not limited to temperature checks, social distancing, mask wearing, and required paperwork) will go out well in advance of the first schedule in-person meeting.
A modified calendar of school-year rehearsals and performances are still being finalized and will be shared as soon as it is available. Assuming no additional guidelines from the school district or NJSIAA, students and parents can expect a reduced slate of shortened rehearsals starting in mid-September running through the end of October, with football or non-competitive performances at Clearview Regional High School starting in October. We are looking into additional opportunities for students to share their show, updates on this front will be provided as they become available. Myself in consultation with members of our school community will reevaluate schedules for these months should new guidelines become available or if school-day instruction become impacted, either prior to or following the start of the school year in September.
Finally, I regret to share that the 2020 ABC6 Thanksgiving Day Parade was cancelled by the City of Philadelphia. Our invitation to perform still stands, and we are looking into rescheduling our participation for a future year.
We will be hosting an informational meeting to review the aforementioned and disseminate additional information on Wednesday July 22nd at 6:30pm on GoogleHangout. You are free to contact me with questions regarding the above message. However, as this is a developing situation, some questions may not have complete answers at the moment.
Best wishes for a safe and healthy rest of the Summer months.
